Tor Project officially released Android-version of its browser

After eight months of testing non-commercial organization Tor Project presented official version of Tor browser for Android.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]or Browser 8.5 version is a first stable release. Alfa-version for public testing was launched in September 2018.

As explained in Tor Project, despite some functional differences between desktop and mobile browser versions, they ensure almost equal security functions, including protection from proxy bypassing and tracing.

“Our priority became growing number of users that enter Internet with the use of mobile devices only. These users often encounter with serious surveillance and censorship on the Internet, so it is important for us to embrace this audience”, — says Isabella Bagueros, Tor Project executive director.

On par with Tor for Android team launched Tor 8.5 for Windows, Mac and Linux. Currently there is no official version for iOS, but Apple smartphones and tablets users can install alternative applications that allow using Tor on mobile devices.

Browser Tor developed on the base of Mozilla Firefox. Earlier Mozilla announced about establishment of grant on development of ways of Tor protocol in Firefox integration.
